Secure your 1 oz 2008 Lunar Year of the Mouse Gold Coin and grow your wealth today!
In 2008 the Perth Mint of Australia launched the second edition of one of the most celebrated and recognized bullion series in the world; the Lunar series. As the first animal to cross the finish line in the legend of the Chinese zodiac, the mouse signals the resetting of the Chinese Lunar calendar. The mouse is associated with yang energy which signifies the beginning, making it an appropriate Kickstarter for both the Chinese Zodiac and the second edition of this series! The clever, cunning, and adaptive animal associates to those born in the year 2008, and in 12-year increments both before and after. Those born in the year of the mouse are known to be highly adaptive above all else, in addition to being optimistic, energetic, kind, and frugal which leads to their immense success. With the 2008 release of this highly collectible series, the Perth Mint maintains its standard for excellence in design on 9999 pure gold, with a limited mintage of only 30,000 coins!
Illustrated on the reverse side is a mouse, perched upon a pile of Chili peppers and stones with the Chinese character for "mouse" in the field, and the characteristic Perth mint "P." The inscription "Year of the Mouse" is seen below.
The obverse contains Ian Rank-Broadley's design of her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, encapsulated by the Queen's title, the year and nation of issue, weight, and purity, and the $100 denominational value.
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide. Today, they are amongst the elite world mints whose pure gold, silver, and platinum items are trusted without question. Items such as the Australian Nugget, Silver Coin Series (Kangaroo, Kookaburra, Koala, and Platypus to name a few), as well as the Australian Lunar Gold and Silver Coin Series are extensively sought after by bullion investors worldwide
