This is the first release in the Majestic Animal series of five coins, all of which will be colourized. These coins make a wonderful addition to any wildlife-themed collection.
The male Big Horn Sheep is famed for their large, curled horns. These horns are a status symbol amongst males, as well as a weapon used in battles for dominance or mating rights. The Rocky Mountain Big Horn sheep can be found from Canada all the way south into Mexico, spending summers at higher elevations and winters in lower elevation mountain passes. A mature male Big Horn sheep's horns can weigh more than all of the other bones in it's body!
The obverse of the coin has the Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse features a colourized Big Horn Sheep ram standing on a rock face. Colourized trees displaying fall colours are in the foreground, with a river and colourized forest scene behind the sheep. The top of the field contains a vista of mountain peaks.
With a limited mintage of only 6,500, this coin is sure to become a collector's item.
This coin comes in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a custom box.
