This coin is the second in a new series from the Royal Mint in the UK. The 1 oz 2015 Year of the Sheep British Royal Mint Silver Coin continues the auspicious Shēngxiào Collection. Created by British-born Chinese artist Wuon-Gean Ho and inspired by centuries of tradition, this coin features a beautiful sheep design intended to unite Chinese and British heritage. This is the second coin in the brand new Lunar Series for the Royal Mint.
The reverse features Wuon Gean-Ho's design that combines two opposing sheep with beautiful detail that captures their wool, wide eyes and meek demeanour. In the background grazing lands can be seen, a combination of the animal and habitat clearly evident. It also has the Chinese symbol for sheep and the words "Year of the Sheep 2015 1 oz Fine Silver 999".
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the script "'Elizabeth 'II' D'G Reg' Fid' Def' 2 'Pounds".
The Shēngxiào Collection was created to celebrate the rich tradition of the Chinese Zodiac. It is a perfect gift for those born in 'sheep' years - 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and those yet to be born in 2015 - who are regarded as creative, dependable, calm and intelligent helping make them very charming to be with.
