To launch the transition from the SBSS series to the refreshed Silver Shield, Chris Duane launched a limited edition 5 oz New Years round in BU and Proof-like editions, with the final SBSS crest on the obverse, and the new Silver Shield crest on the reverse.
Due to a minting error a very limited number of these rounds were struck with the Trivium on one side and the new Silver Shield Crest on the other side. There won't be anymore minted.
Chris Duane has confirmed that he has no plans of ever producing a 5 oz Trivium coin under the Silver Shield series. Due to the extremely small mintage of this mint error coin, these 5 oz Trivium New Year's Rounds are a collector must-have.
