To launch the transition from the SBSS series to the refreshed Silver Shield, Chris Duane launched a limited edition 5 oz New Years round in BU and Proof-like editions, with the final SBSS crest on the obverse, and the new Silver Shield crest on the reverse.
Due to a minting error a very limited number of these rounds were struck with the Trivium on one side and the new Silver Shield Crest on the other side. There won't be anymore minted.
Not only are mint errors not a cause for concern but typically they fetch higher premiums than the correct version. Previous mint error coins in the SBSS series have commanded extremely high premiums on the secondary market and similar stories from sovereign mints fuel the search for that one rare coin worth a fortune.
